The leading candidate to replace Chuck Chvala as Senate majority leader says Democrats need to put the scandal behind them and move on.
Senator Russ Decker of Weston is the top candidate to replace Chvala when the Senate votes this afternoon on new leadership.
Decker says he has backing from a majority of the 18 Democrats in the Senate to succeed Chvala.
Felony charges forced both Chvala and Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen to give up their leadership posts and the governor to call a special session on ethics reform.
Chvala is facing 20 felonies, including extortion for allegedly demanding campaign contributions for legislative favors.
Republicans who control the Assembly 54-43 will pick a new leader at a meeting scheduled for Nov. 12.
Jensen is accused of using his office to campaign for Republicans.
