An area fire department is trying to figure out what caused an early morning fire on Chicago Avenue in Wausau Saturday morning.
Battalion Chief Doug Beula tells NewsChannel 7 that fire crews were called to the home at about 5:00 Saturday morning.
A family was home at the time of the blaze, but made it out safely.
Beula says two of the family’s dogs didn’t make it out.
The fire caused damage in 3 rooms on the first floor of the home.
Right now, they aren’t sure what caused the fire, but the Wausau Fire Department’s investigator and the Wausau Police Department are investigating.
