Many children in our area have teachers working without a contract. In Wausau, right now there is not even a current contract offer on the bargaining table.
That is because a key piece in the district's last proposal has expired. It offered health insurance savings if the teachers agreed to change insurers.
The district says those savings were only available until Oct. 15 and the union did not accept in that window.
Both sides are still working on a time to meet at the negotiating table again.
