The Wisconsin Visual Artists’ Guild is putting on their 2007 Winter Show themed “Peace on Earth” at the Marshfield Clinic Weston Center.
What started out four years ago as a few artists looking for exposure has now grown into an organization of nearly 100 artistic composers that is the Wisconsin Visual Artists Guild, or WVAG.
The purpose of forming the guild was to give Wisconsin artists the opportunity to make, show and sell their artwork. Most of the artists in the guild come from 34 towns right here in Northern Wisconsin.
“I just started doing this when I joined the guild and it’s been just a great opportunity for me,” said Sharon Dowis, the WVAG’s assistant exhibit director who lives just north of Wausau. “I love exhibiting and showing my work.”
For her it’s her digital photography, for some it’s oil paintings and for other it’s a mixed medium - but all of it’s unique.
All of it’s also worth a stop on the first and second floors of the Marshfield Clinic Weston Center.
The show started on the fifth of December and ends on the fourth of March, but you might want to stop in a little sooner.
You never know if you’ll find the perfect gift for someone on your Christmas list, and if you do find the perfect gift, you can take it home and wrap it right away.
All of the artwork on display is for sale. Pieces cost anywhere from less than a hundred dollars to more than four thousand.
If you are a local artist interested in becoming a member of the WVAG, you can request membership information by calling WVAG Exhibit Director Christine Kysely at (715) 571-1320.
