Arts Block Ribbon Cutting

Updated: Tue 10:15 AM, Oct 15, 2002

The $13 million arts block project in downtown Wausau is complete and on Monday, dignitaries joined together for an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

The stage at the Grand Theater is now deeper, meaning bigger shows can come to town. But, leaders of the project say they are pretty excited about the smaller additions as well.

"The exciting thing about the great hall is that they're also able to do smaller shows to get children and families closer to family performers," said Jim O'Connell, the executive director at the performing arts foundation.

The project was funded by donations and money from the city, county and the state.

You can check out the spectacular new buildings during open houses Tuesday and Wednesday.
