A Badger poll out Friday shows Democrat Jim Doyle leads the race for Wisconsin governor, but his support is weak and the political winds could shift.
Forty-two percent of poll respondents said they'd vote for Attorney General Doyle on Nov. 5, and 35 percent said they'd vote for Gov. McCallum.
Fifteen percent were still undecided, with six percent backing Libertarian Ed Thompson and one percent for the Green Party's Jim Young.
It's the first poll taken since the primary election for governor.
But 37 percent of the people who had a preference say they might change their minds before Election Day.
Donald Ferree is with the University of Wisconsin Survey Center in Madison, which conducted the poll.
He says Doyle's lead is small enough that candidates could change the results by making a positive case for themselves or raising doubts about their opponent.
The center surveyed 539 registered voters from Sept. 17 to 25. The margin of error was plus or minus four percentage points.
The poll was sponsored by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Capital Times of Madison.
