LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- Two California truckers face felony drug charges alleging they had more than a half-ton of marijuana stashed amid a load of fresh tomatoes in their semitrailer truck when stopped in western Wisconsin.

Marco Corzo and Gurmit Singh, co-drivers from Palmdale, California, are charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with being party to the crime of possession with intent to deliver THC, an active ingredient in marijuana.

They were arrested November 20th after their truck was stopped at the West Salem Safety and Weight Facility on eastbound Interstate 90.

The criminal complaint says authorities found 44 packages of marijuana weighing a total of about 1,048 pounds. Prosecutors say the street value is more than $900,000.

Judge Elliott Levine continued the case until tomorrow so that they can hire attorneys. Each is being held in jail on $100,000 cash bond.
