The fate of the Marathon County bookmobile is still in limbo.
The county is waiting to see if Hatley residents will build a branch in their community. Meanwhile, the number of people who depend on the bookmobile for bringing their library books to them has already started to dwindle.
County leaders say they would need the money from the bookmobile to help fund a new branch.
"If we compare bookmobile use to branch use, the bookmobile pretty much comes out on the bottom," said Marathon County Administer Mort McBain.
Construction on a new branch could start by next year. But, the Hatley Village president says they are still researching the project.
Hatley has to pay for 50 percent of the building costs and the county takes care of the rest.
