WI Splits on Iraq Resolution

Democratic Senator Herb Kohl plans to support the White House-backed resolution authorizing military force against Iraq.

Kohl staffer Lynn Becker said Thursday Kohl plans to speak in support of the resolution on the Senate floor later that day.

Wisconsin's other senator, Russ Feingold, has been highly critical of a pre-emptive strike against Iraq. The Democrat criticized the administration on the floor yesterday, calling its justification for military action "confused" and "seemingly shifting.''

In the House, Democrat Ron Kind is supporting military force, as is Tom Petri, Mark Green, Paul Ryan and Jim Sensenbrenner.

Democrats Tom Barrett, Tammy Baldwin, Jerry Kleczka and Dave Obey plan to vote against.
