Most hunters take safety precautions to ensure a safe hunt this weekend, but fire officials say there's one thing they typically over look: Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
Last year the deadly gas claimed the of three local hunters.
Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is produced when fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, and other are burned. The symptoms are very similar to the flu and if high levels are consumed it can kill a person in minutes.
According to fire officials, buying a battery operated carbon monoxide detector typically runs about $25.
They also say that hunters are at a high risk because many cabins and campers are poorly ventilated causing dangerous situations that could lead to unconsciousness of death.
