The man charged with drunk driving his SUV into an Antigo area motel, killing a man sleeping inside is working on a plea deal with prosecutors.
58-year-old Stephen VanVleit waved his right to a preliminary hearing in Langlade County Court today.
He is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Vanvleit is facing 4 felony charges, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
He is set to be back in court by the end of November to enter a plea, and today the defense said they hope to have one worked out by that time.
Attorney Chris Van Wagner says, "I haven't had enough time to talk about the arraignment with my client, but it is our hope to have a resolution worked out by then."
26-year old Jesus Castillo was killed while sleeping at the Good Nite Inn in July.
VanVleit allegedly drove his vehicle through the motel room while intoxicated.
According to the criminal complaint, he had a blood alcohol content of .46, nearly six times the legal limit.
