The young age and number of assailants involved in the fatal beating of a Milwaukee man is something the city's police chief has never seen in his 35 years of law enforcement.

Chief Arthur Jones says police are recommending first-degree intentional homicide charges against all 16 involved in the death of 36-year-old Charlie Young.

Nine boys and one adult ranging in age from 10 to 18 are in custody. Police are seeking six other youths.

The mob beat Young with rakes, milk crates and boards after he punched one of them for throwing an egg at him late Sunday.

Young died late Tuesday afternoon after being hospitalized with severe brain injuries.
