CRANDON, Wis. (AP) -- The attorney general says law enforcement in Forest County won't be commenting to news media about last Sunday's rampage in Crandon.

In other words, it's a virtual news blackout on the case, at least in the county where it happened.

J.B. Van Hollen, whose agency is heading the investigation, made the announcement during a news conference yesterday.

He didn't take any questions.

He says families of the victims told him they want "space to grieve" and asked that news media leave them alone, and they've asked him to "ask the community at large to stop talking to the press."

He says the law enforcement community now will do its part as well by making no further comments from Forest County to news media about the killings of six people and wounding of a seventh at a Crandon residence.

The gunman was an off-duty sheriff's deputy who died when tracked down later.
