Jaguar Crunch: Austen Lane's Ice Cream Flavor
It's been said that Iola native Austen Lane is a sweet man. A local business has added a little more sweet to his resume.

An ice cream parlor might be the last place you'd expect to come across rabid football fans. But in Iola, that's exactly what you'll find.
"There's a lot of girls here that are big packer fans," said Johnna Spangers, an employee at Shivers. "I follow it, and now i'll be following the jaguars a little bit more, but i'm still a packer fan."
"We're pretty sports orientated around here, so that's just another added plus," added Shivers owner Jennifer Kopecky.
That's because hometown hero Austen Lane now plays professionally down in Jacksonville.
"Wherever he goes in town, everyone's just right there for Austen," said Kopecky.
Spangers adds, "everyone's really supportive and he's very happy and proud of where he comes from."
So the ladies here at Shivers did the natural thing. They decided to cater to Austen's soft-side. And what better way than with a little soft-serve.
Jaguar Crunch.
"She put a giant Sweet Tart in there and sprinkles and cotton candy flavoring, things like that," said a smiling Austen.
"We kind of threw it together and surprised him a little," said Spangers, "his part was the Sweet Tart."
"Sweet Tarts, I don't think Sweet Tarts and ice cream go that well together, but this seems to work just fine," Kopecky said with laughter.
"To tell you the truth I've never had one," Austen said. "I don't want my strength coach to see this, but what I've heard about it, it's pretty good."
Lucky for Austen, the Jaguar Crunch will stay on the menu at Shivers for the foreseeable future.
