It's the first of day of school for many students in central Wisconsin. And for many area moms it means spending the day without their baby. Here's a few from parents to parents on how to cope with the first day.

According to blog writer Shannan Siegart Small who wrote Mom's Coping Guide for First Day of Kindergarten "Cry it out. If you feel like crying because your baby has already gone to school and you can just remember when he was a little bitty jelly bean in your arms, then go ahead. But don't plan on spending the whole day that way! Take time to feel it and then let it go. After all, you are a free woman for the day and isn't the first day of school a national holiday anyway (or it should be)?!"

Steven A. Richfield, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist and author of "The Parent Coaching Cards" shared this advice to deal with separation anxiety in both your child during an interview for MomsToday.com
"When parents become involved in their child's classroom they become linked to their child in another context. This helps ease the separation pangs and provides a new feeling of attachment to the child's learning environment. It is much easier to start discussions with the child about their classmates, teacher or learning objectives when the parent has witnessed the lesson firsthand or met the kids in the classroom."

Here's some great advice from FamilyEducation.com on making your goodbyes short and sweet:
Make your goodbye cheerful and brief. Don't come back after you have already said goodbye, and don't slip out of the room unnoticed. Some children like a goodbye ritual, such as two hugs or a secret wave from the window. Again, remind your child when you will return, and make sure you are not late picking her up!

We asked our viewers on our Facebook how they're dealing with the first day of school:

Tara writes: It's still hard to send them away and mine are in 2nd, 4th and 5th grade....BUT I'm LOVING the quiet!!!!

"I have a 2 and 1 yr old at home, its also a good day to clean and organize since it will be fall soon enough. I guess its nice to enjoy the t.v and computer with out the older two begging and fighting!" Says MattieAnna

Kelly says: I really don't know which is harder, the first day of kindergarten or the first day of my son's senior year.
