The Wausau man accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman and threatening her with a knife will head to trial.
21-year-old James Begay was originally scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Marathon County, but he decided to waive that hearing.
That means he will stand trial.
He also agreed to take a blood test.
"The blood test is a request that the defendant have blood drawn from him, it's examined to determine whether or not there are any diseases that he may have given to the victim," says Marathon County District Attorney Ken Heimerman.
Begay is charged with first degree sexual assault with the use of a dangerous weapon, battery, and criminal damage to property.
His next court appearance is set for October.

begay was given special treatment at Northland Group Home here in Wausau he failed numerous drug test right before his release bragged about having sex with his 17 y.o girlfriend while at the group home and the adninistration Jan N.and CRS knew about it but chose to over look it I hope the young ladies lawyer looks into this, this place is buy the Y and the lib. and they allow these guys to walk the street alone and with no accountability a place like Northland Group Home should be gone or at least get administration who cared about our children, this a bad place to be in a residential area.
Jim Begay was in a group home,Northland Group Home, ran by catholic residential services. This information should be logged at the group home. Here is a little background. Shortly before his release. Failed numerous drug test. Failed to come back on time from home passes, on more than one time for more than a few days. Was given special treatment, and allowances. I hope that the lawyer who helps this young lady will get the records from this group home and review the history of this guy, it may help them greatly. Maybe talk with past staff for clues on what to look for.It maybe that Northland Group Home dropped the ball on this release and this young lady had to pay for a mistake that could have been stopped.
did this gay guy know this women before the attack?
