WATERTOWN, Wis. (AP) -- Watertown police say one person was killed and a second was injured by a man with a Samurai sword.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday at a boarding house above Yanger's Bar in Watertown. The person who survived the attack called police and said a man with a sword had stabbed someone on the second floor.

WISN-TV reports police found the attacker on the top of a stairwell leading to the second floor. Officers negotiated with the man and he eventually surrendered. A 27-year-old man with several stab wounds was found on the second floor. He was critically injured and later died. The person who called police was treated at the hospital and released.

A 29-year-old Watertown man is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
