UPDATE: Sheriff's Dept. Releases Name of Man Killed while Hunting

Authorities have released the name of a 29-year-old man who died following a hunting accident September 22 in northwestern Marathon County.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Seng Her, 32, was squirrel hunting on private land in the Town of Hasley when he accidentally shot and killed Xou Chang, 29.

The initial investigation revealed Seng was shooting at a squirrel and in the direction where Xou was hunting.

The Sheriff's Department said the investigation is ongoing.

A 29-year-old man is dead after a hunting accident in western Marathon County over the weekend.

A Lieutenant with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department says the squirrel hunter was shot just after 9 a.m. Sunday morning in the Town of Hasley, just northwest of Wausau.

The Wisconsin DNR and Marathon County Sheriff's deputies are investigating this incident.

The man's name isn't being released at this time.

This is the second hunting accident in marathon county in just a week. A 20-year-old man was shot and wounded last week while hunting in Kronenwetter.
