Every seventh day of the month, Newschannel 7 along with the American Cancer Society are proud to bring you Health Check Seven. This month we are talking about skin cancer.
A doctor at the Marshfield Clinic in Wausau says even though it's cold outside you should continue to wear sunscreen during the winter months. He says blisters on their nose, ears and cheeks from overexposure can lead to melanoma. He says you should protect the areas of your body that will remain exposed.
"The skin that's exposed to the dangerous ultraviolet light levels is the only skin that's at risk," said Dr. Bart Hobson.
He also wants to remind us of the dangers of tanning beds, especially when more women use them during the winter when there's less sun.
