Some people in Madison are honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month by getting daily reminders of how cancer has affected their lives.

Some people tattooing their skin pink are cancer survivors. Others have been affected by it.

The owner of Tattoos by Michelle in Madison started the ribbon campaign after her friend died of cancer.

“I got my tattoo for my friend,” said Michelle Thierfelder. “A lot of people view it as a way that they always have the person will them all the time because it’s on their body.”

Michelle is also honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month by giving free tattoos to clients who donate anywhere from $50-300 to go toward cancer research and help prevent others from being affected by cancer in the future.
