It's that time of year again. Summer is over, and it's time to get back into the classroom. Newschannel 7 followed students and families today at A.C. Kiefer Educational Center in Wausau, with children ranging in ages three to five years old.

Teachers tell us they make it a priority to get kids comfortable with the school environment and relieve parents as well, letting them know that their children are in a fun and nurturing environment.

With the first day come bus rides, making friends and parents taking pictures marking their child's success. "It was a fun day based on the expression of the kids when they were leaving. Every single one of them told me they can't wait to come bak tomorrow, so that was good," said Principal Julie Burmesch.

The Wausau School District says that they saw an increase of about thirty students district-wide for the new year, and almost perfect attendance at A.C. Kiefer Tuesday.
