MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- 16-year-olds in Wisconsin can now donate blood.

Gov. Jim Doyle signed a bill Friday that allows 16-year-olds to give blood with their parents' consent.

The old minimum age was 17.

Supporters of the bill say the change will foster a lifelong habit of donating among young people.
