Merrill Boy Scouts Host Haunted Sawmill

For the first time in two decades, residents in Merrill can have a frightening good experience leading up to Halloween.

The Merrill Boy Scout Troop 599 has spent the last year planning for its first ever Haunted Sawmill on the corners of 8th and Hendricks Streets.

The "spooktacular" show opens from Friday night from 6:30 - 11 p.m., runs through the weekend and starts back up next Thursday, Oct. 27 through Halloween night. For more information, contact Gerald Hersil, the Haunted Sawmill Chair at (715) 218-3214.

Tickets cost $6 the door or $5 with a donation of a non-perishable food item. T-Shirts will be availabe for sale to those who are able to survive the experience.

Halloween Ideas

Have a Safe Halloween Night

Before your ghosts and goblins trick or treat this year, parents should keep in mind some safety tips.
  • Carry a Flashlight ~ A glow bracelet, necklace, or flashing attire also work well for visibility.
  • Plan Route in Advance ~ Trick or treat in familiar neighborhoods or areas.
  • Only Visit Lit Houses ~ Residents who do not wish to be bothered by trick or treaters often leave off their lights.
  • Accompany Your Children ~ If they are older and trick or treat without an adult, set firm rules and have them carry a cell phone.
  • Think Practical for Costumes ~ Be sure a child's mask allows full visibility and breathing.
  • Inspect All Candy ~ Never allow children to eat candy before it is inspected and throw away anything that is opened.
