College Organic, Sustainability Programs Growing
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- The number of universities offering courses, certificates or degrees in organic or sustainable agriculture is on the rise.
Washington State University already offers an organic agriculture degree. The school recently became the first in the country to offer an organic agriculture certificate online.
At the University of California at Davis, students are enrolling in a new sustainable agriculture and food systems program this fall.
Experts say the growth is fueled by consumer demand for healthier food and rising demand for food that is produced on a sustainable farm or in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
