MILWAUKEE (AP) — The wacky wheeler who does acrobatics in and around his giant metal wheel will be there, as will the stilt walkers and a woman riding a long-horned steer.
The Great Circus Parade returns to Milwaukee tomorrow after a six-year hiatus.
Even as many events are cutting corners due to the sagging economy, organizers raised $1.5 million to bring back the parade after years when it lacked financial support.
Hundreds of thousands of people show up for the parade, some of whom camp along the route days before. It will also be shown live on public television stations around the country.
Parade watchers will see 52 mostly antique circus wagons, 300 horses, six elephants, 150 clowns, more than 450 riding and walking performers and 10 marching bands.
