MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Bolstered by a Democratic Senate and party gains in the Assembly, Governor Doyle is looking ahead to achieving goals he pressed for in his hard-fought campaign for re-election.
Doyle tells The Associated Press today that he wants to get away from the socially divisive issues that the Republican Legislature was involved in.
His priorities in the next four years include growing the state economically through worker training and manufacturing gains, affordable health care and a strong educational agenda.
Doyle says the size of his victory -- 53 percent -- sends a clear signal that the parties ought to be working together.
He says moderate Republicans found "their voice" in the gubernatorial election.
Exit polling showed independent voters helped Doyle win reelection.
