APPLETON, Wis. (AP) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Green says Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle was wrong in saying that Green had voted to ban embryonic stem cell research.
Green said after stopping at Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton Monday that those votes were against human cloning.
Green says Doyle was for human cloning because he vetoed a bill banning that practice.
Doyle has said the bill was too broad and would have ended important research.
Green downplayed actor Michael J. Fox's visit this morning to Milwaukee on behalf of Doyle. He says the governor was turning to a Hollywood star while Green was visiting with Wisconsin voters.
