Update: Rapids to Have Impeachment Question on November Ballot
Reporter: Alison Struve/Jeff Thelen
Voters will have a lot to think about come Election Day.
In Wisconsin Rapids, a referendum question will ask voters if Congress should look into impeaching the President.
The City Council voted 7-to-1 Tuesday (9/19/06) to put the question on the ballot.
William Dolan spent the past few weeks going door to door in Wisconsin Rapids, gathering signatures, "Just to see if we could get something going in our community," he says.
More than 900 people signed a petition to put this resolution before the City Council: 'Resolved: The U.S. House of Representatives should start an impeachment investigation against President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney now.'
And if the yes votes win in November, "We would have to put that resolution in our resolution book," says City Clerk Vern Borth.
However, Dolan hopes that ‘yes’ would send a message all the way to Washington.
