WSAW-TV Aiming to Carry as Many Brett Favre/New York Jets Games This Season as Possible

WSAW-TV NewsChannel 7 has asked CBS to send as many New York Jets games as it can to the Wausau market for the 2008 NFL Season. CBS has the rights to broadcast most of the AFC Games. Although most games are assigned by the network, affiliates can ask to carry games where there is a local interest in a particular team over ones currently assigned.

"We are going to be like a second home for Favre and the Jets,” says NewsChannel 7 General Manager Al Lancaster. “Our goal is to bring as many games to Northcentral Wisconsin as possible."

NewsChannel 7 is hoping that CBS will agree to at least ten New York Jets games, if not more. All of the games that the station is assigned will be broadcast for free, over the air and in high-definition.

I think playing the jets games is stupid, we could be watching the teams in our division instead. Poor Bret is with another team like so many other players in the nfl. Do we watch those games when other player get traded or in Bret's case he retired and then wanted to come back (like he did how many years in a row). Give it up and play some games we are a little more interested in watching. If the people here are so concerned with Farve, move to New York.

Let Brett Go, it would have been much better if you would have worked at getting the olympics on TV than worrying about showing a football game. Why not focus on the new up and coming star and let the old one fade in the background.

This is the only thing that I will pay attn on the wsaw site for anymore. Looking to see who the traders are and who the LOYAL GB fans are. Personally I never like the station to begin with, and this gives me one less reason to watch it. After all Favre did NOT make the Green Bay Packers, and he did not make the Green Bay Packer fans loyal. The stadium was sold out prior to Brett. Wake up people, he didn't want to play for GB anymore. If he sheds a few tears, maybe just maybe all of the Packer fans will run out and buy his new Jets jersey. Then you bumbling fools will make him more money... just what he needs.

Why would you want to carry the New York Jets games, shouldn't you still be loyal to the Green Bay Packers, even if Brett is no longer with them?

"coach" and without Favre the Packers last superbowl was when gas was less than a dollar a gallon. Get real. WSAW I will be watching everyone you get and buying all the products advertised, adn I'll be recording th packers games to fast track thru to the ads so I know which sponsors to write a letter to telling them I ban their products.

Any sports team is just a logo and a concept and just like any other organazation it is only as good as the people that comprise it. Right now the Packers are represented by cheats and liars. Who people chose to cheer for shows a lot into their personalality.

Marsha you do get the Packers for free, they are on the local FOX, CBS and NBC. For the most part. NFL Network maybe once every other year and ESPN for Monday night football. Charter just signed with Big 10 Network but I do not know the details, I get Dirct TV and NFL Network and Big 10 are included in my pacakge. I may have to get Sunday Ticket to watch my team the Eagles. Packers or any other NFC North will be on locally here before the Eagles. Does that help a little.

Michael, if you want to see the best QB play then tune into the Colts, Patriots, and Giants. All 3 QBs are much better than the Old Man, Biff looked like an old man and was clearly out played by ELI in the NFC Championship game, people forget that b/c all high and mighty's poop don't stink. I thought Wisconsin people saw through an ego, me me player. Jets stink, Favre Stinks likes a toddler's diaper. It's the team you cheer for, this isn't Nascar, oh wait we are talking sports here.

I am a Brett Farve fan also and will watch the games he plays, but why can't our local tv stations broadcast the packers and badgers games instead of them being on cable or dish stations. Why do we have to pay the price to watch our own state teams? We should have the benifit to watch them for free.

JETS JETS Stink with or without Favre, he adds 3 wins but is the cause of 2 losses, so the jets will be 5-11, who runs WSAW? What a horrible decision. Give the Colts, Steelers, Jags, Titans, Chargers, the playoff teams from last year. WSAW dropped the ball on this what a joke, give me the team first. Good riddance to Ole Hillibilly...

Tracy and all other Favre backers, it was the Packers that made Ole Hillbilly, he was a bumbling idiot in Atlanta and Wolf made the deal for him, I'm sick of him and everything he represents, I'm done with Favre, and his products he pitches. Thanks for the memories, but do not let the door hit you in the backside on your way out. Without Packers, Favre is living in Mississippi, working at the local CITGO, pumping gas, watching NASCAR and asking his wife they are cousins...

thank you very much for trying to get us the jets games. i will watch everyone you air. for the people that are bad mouthing brett I think they better hear both sides of the story. brett did not leave us the head people in charge of the packers made brett go to a differt team. You people are so mean. Brett and his teammates are the ones that made the packers.Otherwise people could careless about the packers. The packer organization are the ones to blame for farve not playing for the packers. I will never be a packer fan again I do not care whos on that team.

If there's an Eagles game on CBS and it’s against the Steelers or any other AFC team and they show the Jokers with Brett Phony, then I would be mad, I hope CBS does not allow this, the man didn't want to be a Packer, he played the media and the fans fell for it. I would appreciate it if we could see other teams. Not all of us love Brett, and I enjoy watching other AFC teams like Indianapolis and New England. I don't enjoy the thought of only seeing the Jets every Sunday. Not everyone wants to watch Favre, hard as that may be for you all to believe. Some of us are incredibly happy to see him go.
