Laverne C. Erickson, 89, of Weston, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013,
at her home. She was born on September 8, 1924, in Schofield, to Fred and
Leona (Tackett) Erickson. She attended local schools including Wausau High
School. Laverne became employed as a machine operator at Fortress
Manufacturing in Milwaukee for many years.
Laverne was a pleasant and strong person, and still very active. She
enjoyed traveling around the state, especially up north, and also made trips
to the western U.S. as well. Laverne liked flowers and shopping. She never
hesitated to get in her car and head to the mall in Appleton. She was an
avid Packer fan and always looked forward to the next game. Laverne was in
a country western band when she was younger and played electric guitar. Laverne is survived by her sister, Virgean “Leaha” (Glenn) Geurink of
Rothschild; brother, Duane (Nancy) Erickson of Schofield; sister-in-law,
Jean Erickson of Wausau; brother-in-law, Hilbert Tessmer of Wausau; and many
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Leona; three sisters,
Shirley, Virginia, and Carol; and brother, Robert.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013, at
Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Rev. Sid Bouldin
officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the
time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial
Park, town of Texas.
