Alice D. Hintze, 83 of Wausau, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk after an extended illness.
She was born in Wausau to Erwin Brandenburg and Alice Rosetta Brandenburg (Klein). She was a graduate of Wausau High School. She married Herbert Owen Hintze of Wausau on November 12, 1949 in a home ceremony. Alice worked as a professional photography retoucher for Toburen Photo Studio & Service for more than 20 years.
Alice enjoyed music and art, contributing her efforts to annual charitable doll drives and youth community theater productions. In later years she supported her husband's efforts on behalf of Trout Unlimited and enjoyed area bingo gatherings. She supported St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital and the Humane Society. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert Sr. of Wausau, three children, Herbert Jr. (wife Rose) of Texas, Holly (husband Brad) of Wisconsin, and Haley of Illinois, two grandchildren, Jessica (husband David) and Christopher, both of Texas, along with numerous other relatives.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams St., Wausau, WI. Pastor Sean Motley and Father Zbigniew "Marion" Talaga will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, October 20 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau, and again on Monday, from 10 am until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran.
