Larry E. Halvorsen, 63, of Wausau passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at St. Clare’s Hospital from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born September 30, 1949 in Milwaukee, son of Leo and Christine Senski. Larry was a graduate of Edgar High School and later North Central Technical College. On May 16, 1970, he married Karen Mueller at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Edgar.
For many years, Larry worked in sales for Raybern Lighting, Englewood/Wesco Electric and Werner Electric.
In his younger years, Larry was quite an athlete. He participated in three high school sports, even winning the state title in high jump during his Senior year. After graduation he played lots of softball. When his sons, Scott and Paul were youngsters, he was active in little league and Wausau youth hockey. Larry was an outgoing guy who made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed being around people and was a friend to all. Larry had been an active member of the Wausau Jaycees where he was general chairman of the 1985 Fourth of July Celebration. His past times included traveling, participating in various athletic events and barbeque cook offs with his sons and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Wausau, two sons, Scott (Kelly) and Paul, all of Rib Mountain, two grandsons, Jacob and Luke, his brother, Dennis (Connie) of Edgar and sister, Gail (Kevin) Mroczenski of Marathon. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3200 North Mountain Rd, Wausau. Reverend Craig Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Edgar. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at
