Ernest A. Milanowski, 93, Hatley, died on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Azura Memory Care, Wausau, under the care of his family and Asera Care Hospice.
He was born on May 18, 1920 in the Town of Reid, Marathon County, the son of the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (Bigus) Milanowski. On November 14, 1942, Ernest was united in marriage to Angeline Rafacz in Wausau. She survives.
The couple farmed in the Town of Reid for many years and Ernest also worked for Lake Wausau Granite. He was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. His passion was his cows and farm. Ernest also enjoyed polka music and trips to Canada, but truly loved his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Angeline Milanowski; six children, David (Eileen) Milanowski, Hatley, Georgean (Myron) Janikowski, Pike Lake, Julie (Dick) Verkuilen, Eland, Gary (Kittie) Milanowski, Hatley, Dianne (Leon) Zoromski, Pike Lake and Sandy (Jon) Bushman, Galloway; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Pawlowski, Hatley; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Jack) Gusman, Hatley and Grace Wadzinski, Wausau and one brother-in-law, Fr. Joseph Rafacz, Wausau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements.
