Marty M. Heidner, age 70, passed away on July 8, 2013 after a long and exhausting battle with heart disease and kidney failure.



Upon graduation from Libertyville-Freemont high school in 1961, she attended the University of Illinois and Deaconess Nursing school before moving to Wausau, where she worked for 37 years as an auditor at Wausau Insurance. She was then employed at the Marathon County Red Cross office for two years before retiring again.



Marty served the Wausau area as an American Red Cross volunteer instructor for over 35 years, and was active in Altrusa and Therapy Dogs International while working and after retirement.



Marty was preceded in death by her parents, Richard C. and Mary Katherine (nee. Swanton) Heidner.



She is survived by two brothers, Chuck (Judy) Heidner, Green Bay, Bill (Melba) Heidner, Yuma, AZ, and one step-brother, Jerry (Sandy) Steward, Madison. Other survivors include four nieces, three nephews, three great nieces, one great nephew, and many cousins . She is also survived by a number of dear friends and Snoopy.



A memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1530 Grand Avenue, Schofield. Visitation will be from 4 PM until the time of service.



In lieu of flowers, Marty and her family ask that donations be made to the American Red Cross, Therapy Dogs International, or Altrusa.
