Uekert, Eugene

Eugene Uekert was born July 12, 1933 in the town of Rib Falls to the late Walter and Erna (Schewe) Uekert. Eugene grew up on his parent’s town of Rib Falls farm. His family attended Zion Lutheran Church in Rib Falls with Eugene being a lifetime member. He continued working on the farm after graduating from Marathon High School and on October 26, 1957, Eugene married Shirley Bauman at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. They were 4th generation owners with their son, Scott now working the 5th generation. Eugene was a huge Packer fan, season ticket holder as well as part owner. He even has his own walkway brick at Lambeau Field. Eugene enjoyed playing cards and riding his bike especially visiting his sister, Mavis in Little Chicago.
At the age of 79, Eugene passed away at his home on Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Rib Falls, five children, Sharon (Gary) Kreft of Hamburg, Ken (Shelley) Uekert of Ramona, CA, Brenda Uekert of Williamsburg, VA, Nancy (Lloyd) Hoeft of Murfreesboro, TN, Scott (Ashlee) Uekert of Athens, seven grandchildren, Travis (Jennifer) Kreft, Waylon and Jared Kreft, Taylor, Colin and Alex Uekert and Jessica Hoeft, one great granddaughter, Skyler Baumann and his sister, Mavis Steidinger of Marathon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2214 State Hwy. 107, Marathon. Reverend Terry Reich will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
