Kenneth E. Bessert, 60, Aniwa, died Friday, May 3, 2013 in Wausau.
He was born on April 28, 1953 in Antigo, the son of the late Elmer and Angeline (Kekula) Bessert.
On July 29, 1972, Ken was united in marriage to Barbara Taggart in Aniwa. They later divorced.
Ken worked as a mechanic and welder for many years. For the last year, he delivered papers for the Wausau Daily herald. Ken was a detailed storyteller and looked forward to the family pig roast and 4th of July celebration. He enjoyed selling corn in Lakewood and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include five children, Amy (Christopher Seever) Bessert, Mattoon, Katherin Maddix, White Lake, Adam (April) Bessert, Antigo, Carla Bessert, Antigo and Nicole Bessert, Antigo; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter on the way; four brothers, Bernard (Mary Jane) Bessert, Aniwa, Louis Bessert, Antigo, Benedict (Jodi) Bessert, Dunlop, TN and Edward (Debra) Bessert, Aniwa and three sisters, Audrey Montoure, Charleston, SC, Carol Muhs, Birnamwood and Mary (Larry) Clouse, Erwin, TN. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Bessert, Antigo, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by one brother, James Bessert; a son-in-law, Dominic Maddix; niece, Connie Bessert and brother-in-law, Edwin Muhs.
A Remembrance Service will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3pm until 6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. The family guestbook and condolences are available at schmidtschulta.com.
