Ruth E. Steinke, 93, Birnamwood, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Autumn Lane Family Care, Birnamwood.
She was born on March 14, 1920 in the town of Aniwa, the daughter of the late Louis and Nora (Morris) Suprise.
On November 11, 1939, Ruth was united in marriage to Elmer Steinke in Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1999.
Ruth enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, watching the birds, listening to music and reading, but she especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include daughter, Eileen Whitman, Lake Wales, FL and her children, Denise (Rob) and their children, Jessiann, Bryce, Brielle, Brynnae and Breigh; Angela and her children, Dylan and Josh (Theresa) and their child, Caleb; Matt (Diane) and their children, Erin, Ashley and Monte; Sarah (Tom) and their children, Madisen and Jack; daughter, Gladys (Issac) Kanoa, Maui, HI and their child, Lianna (Cliff) and their children Liahi, Mikala and Noah; the late Issac Jr.'s child, Gabrielle; daughter, Carole (Richard Taylor) Steinke, Burlington and her children, Ryan (Lisa) and their children, Melanie and Hailey; Rachel (Zach) and their child, Annabell; son, Chester (Jackie) Steinke, Cherry Valley, IL and their children, Tim (Loretta); Kori; Holly, and her children, Troy, Jr. and Hailey; daughter, Pamela Berry, Desert Hot Springs, CA, and her children Curtis; Lucas and his child, Benjamin; and son, Steven (Tina) Steinke, Birnamwood and their children, Justin (Rhonda); Stephanie (Doug) and their child, Maverick. Ruth is also survived by one sister, Viola Gnat, Conover and other relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson, Issac Kanoa, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Spaulding, Bernice Laehn, Patricia Suprise and Ethel Delaney and brothers, Frank Suprise, Albert Suprise, Lloyd Suprise, Clarence Neill and Harold Neill.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Ralph Hankermeyer will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Monday from 11am until the time of services at the funeral home. The family guestbook and condolences are available at
