Della M. Grant, 94, Mattoon, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at KTCR – Eastview, Antigo.
She was born on April 8, 1918 in the town of Red Springs, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Frederick and Jennie May (Howe) Murphy.
On February 27, 1938, Della was united in marriage to Clinton Currie Grant, Sr. in Morgan Siding, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1980.
Della enjoyed doing beadwork and other crafts, crocheting and dancing. She worked as a cook at the M & L Restaurant in Antigo for about 10 years and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon and the Ladies’ Aid. Della enjoyed helping people and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include five children, Frederick (Charlene) Grant, Shawano, Jennie (Alfred) Gallert, Milwaukee, Randy (Billie Jean) Grant, Birnamwood, Ray (Alice) Grant, South Milwaukee and Clinton Jr. (Maria) Grant, Milwaukee; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Grant, Shawano; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one sister, Velma Grosskreuz, Dalton, WI; sisters-in-law, Mary Marciniak, Milwaukee and Dorothy Grant, Illinois; brother-in-law, Paul Burritt, Milwaukee and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Clayton Grant and Deborah Skorie-Grant and sisters, Katherine and Nora and a brother, Ole.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. Rev. Dean Bertsch will officiate. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Hutchins, Shawano County at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and on Saturday from 10am until the time of services at the church.
