Kenneth L Malpert, 81, Wausau, died March 21, 2013, at Mount View Care Center.



He was born Sept 11, 1931 in Nora, NE, and lived in Cadams, NE before moving to Deshler. He graduated from Deshler High School, attended Wartburg College and later graduated from Wartburg Seminary. He worked for a number of years at Deshler Grain and Feed Co. He was ordained in his first church at Lodgepole, NE after graduating seminary. The family moved to Birnamwood, WI in 1970, where he was the minister at Trinity and St. John’s Lutheran Churches until 1977. He enjoyed repairing and refinishing furniture for many years after his retirement from the ministry until his health no longer allowed him to.



Survivors include his long-term girlfriend and caregiver, Cathy Hoersch, Wausau; one son, Rod (Sharon) Malpert, Ringle, WI; three daughters, Cindy (Joe) Curran, Waynesville, NC, Renee Schroeder (Dennis Klockziem), Wausau, WI, and Jenny (Buddy) Huckabee, Franklin, NC; six grandchildren, Brad (Heather) and Adam Malpert, Jeremy Curran, Payton and Carrie Schroeder, Braxton Huckabee; and two great-granddaughters, Madison Rose Malpert and her sister on the way; two brothers, Darrell (Jan) Malpert, Lindsborg, KS and Merlin (Barb) Malpert, Branson West, MO; and former wife and the mother of his children, Lois Irick, Wausau.



Kenneth was preceded in death by his second wife, Jane (Polencheck) Malpert, and his parents John & Karen (Carrie) Malpert of Deshler, NE.



Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, 3200 N. Mountain Rd., Wausau. Rev. Craig Swenson will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.



Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau is assisting the family with arrangements.



In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to a charity of their choice.



The family would like to thank Mount View Care Center and Aspirus Hospice for the care given to Kenneth.
