Jean Y. Gunderson, 83, Eland, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born on February 8, 1930 in Iola, the daughter of the late Henry and Marie (Olson) Larson.
On June 30, 1951, Jean was united in marriage to Pat Gunderson in the township of Alban. He survives.
Jean worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Homme Home of Wittenberg for over 31 years. She was a very faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Eland and its Ladies’ Aid. Jean enjoyed flower gardening, sitting in the sun and going to Lutefisk dinners. No one will ever forget her homemade cookies, buns and bread or one of her favorite traditions of going to the Rosholt Fair every year. Jean adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband, Pat Gunderson, Eland; six children, Shelley (John) Boda, Elderon, Donna Gunderson, Eland, Peggy (Marty) Benes, Antigo, Ray Gunderson, Wanda Gunderson and David Gunderson, all of Wittenberg; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her brother, Russell (Gerry) Larson, Iola and her in-laws, Magnus (Gloria) Gunderson, Milwaukee, Kenneth (Marilyn) Gunderson, Wausau and Jackie Gunderson, Wittenberg. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one son, Mark Gunderson; two sisters, Leila Thompson and Mildred Jacobson; three brothers, Herbert Larson, Ray Larson and Gordon Larson and in-laws, Marcia (John) Nillis, Thelma (Jack) Van Order and Dale Gunderson.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Eland. Rev. Michael Schram will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and on Tuesday from 10am until the time of services at the church.
