Raymond Leskey, 85, Wausau, passed away Feb. 20th under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at North Central Heath Care Center. Ray was born Jan. 14, 1928 in Merrill, Wisconsin to the late Margaret (Shape) and John Leskey. On September 23, 1950 he married Joan Greenwood. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2004. Ray was called to active duty on 11-19-45 and served until 5-8-47. He was called again on 10-15-61 and served until 8-10-62. He also was a member of the Wisconsin Natural Guard. Ray worked for many years at JI Case (Drott Manufacting). Ray was a long time member of St. Paul's UCC, Wausau, and the Keg Club of Merrill, WI. He was a founding member of the Rock Island Ski Club of Merrill. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Kirk Robert; two brothers, Bruce Leskey and Jack Leskey; and a sister-in-law, Jean Leskey; brother-in-law, Fred Greenwood; one nephew, Bruce Leskey; special friend who was like a second father, Robert Oberg; and dear friend, Bill Parlier. Survivors include one daughter, Jane; son-in-law, Barry Jensen, of Wausau; one granddaughter Katie (Jonathan) Gooding; and two great grandsons, Jensen Pratt and Andrew Ward Gooding all of Anderson SC. He is also survived by one nephew, Jim (Cindy) Leskey, and his nephew’s wife, Sandy Leskey, both of Merrill; Sister in law, Yoko Greenwood, Mesa AZ; and niece, Reiko Dodd, El Paso, Texas. He is also survived by three grand nephews, Matthew and Nicholas Leskey of Merrill, and Jordan Leskey of Tomahawk; and a very special friend, Esther Hartig. Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at St. Paul’s UCC, 426 E. Washington Ave. Rev. Keane Foster will officiate. Visitation will held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Sunday. Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, is assisting the family with Arrangements.
