Norma E. Bialkowsky, 79, passed away peacefully Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, WI.
Norma was born July 15, 1933 to Dennis and Hazel (Simerson) McCarthy in Portage, WI.
Norma worked her entire life as a waitress. In her younger years she worked at Speedway Restaurant in Portage WI., but most people will best remember Norma from Bill’s Fine Foods in Wausau where she waitressed for more than 23 years, retiring in 1997. After retirement Norma enjoyed reminiscing with her former co-workers ad customers about their years together at Bill’s.
Norma is survived by four of her daughters, Sue A. (Jude) Martell of Schofield, Barbara (Ronald) Burclaff of Kronenwetter, Dawn (Carl) Foote of Wausau and Angela Meyer of Wausau; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Kathleen Blackburn of Reedsburg, WI, and Rosemary Stevens of Baraboo, WI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Amy Schwantes, brothers Howard and Roy McCarthy, and her sisters Helen Nelson and Mary Frank.
When Norma was a younger woman she loved music and to dance. She kept up on all the latest dance moves including the twist! She often listened to big band music and the crooner sounds of Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, as well as Tijuana Brass, Chubby Checker and others.
Norma was a fiercely independent woman who loved socializing with her neighbors, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family as funny, tenacious, and always on the move.
Memorial Services for Norma will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2013 at Brainard Funeral Home 522 Adams St., Wausau WI. Gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:30 until time of services.
With grateful hearts, the family would like to thank all the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospice House, your tender care of our Mother meant everything to us! The family also wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Aspirus Hospital Cardiac Unit, and Church of Resurrection Parish.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for further use at the Hospice House.
