Cory M. Creger, 34, of Weston, Wis., formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at his home.

Cory was born April 19, 1978 in Moline, a son of Michael and Pamela Fobert Creger. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1996, where he was a standout athlete in football and wrestling. Following graduation from Alleman, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Stationed at Camp David, Maryland, Cory was a member of the Presidential Guard and served Presidents William J. Clinton and George W. Bush.

After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Cory moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Northcentral Technical College. He was an electronic security specialist for Per Mar Security.

Cory enjoyed hunting and fishing, but the love of his life was his son, Caden. He was an avid Chicago Bear fan in Packerland.

Survivors include his son, Caden Russell Creger, Wausau, Wis.; parents, Michael and Pamela Creger, Rock Island; brother and sister-in-law, Casey and Kathy Creger, Milan; niece, Payton Creger, Milan; grandmothers, Bette Creger, Rock Island and Joan Fobert Guise, Rock Island; very special friend, Laurie McCanna; two special little girls, Kylah Smith and Ryleigh Lorbecke; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Russell Creger, Francis “Bud” Fobert, and Dick Guise.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an educational fund for his son, Caden.
