Gertrude “Gert” Fitzgerald, 91, of Wausau, died Tuesday, Feb. 05, 2013 at Marywood Center, Wausau.
She was born Sept. 5, 1921 to Valentine & Antonia (Przybylski) Kostrzeski on a farm in Galloway, WI. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1938. Gert married John Fitzgerald on June 14, 1941. They loved to polka and play cards.
Gert worked at Channel 7, Channel 9, and for United Cloak in a secretarial capacity.
She is survived by her sister Lillian Vicker of Mosinee; a nephew, Richard Vicker of Bloomington, IN, a niece Carol (Paul) Reuter of Raleigh, NC; several great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Clara; and niece, Barbara Creswell.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark St., Wausau. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Timothy Welles will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau.
