Theodore “Ted” Bender, age 72 of Wausau, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Asprirus Wausau Hospital. Ted was born on February 15, 1940 in Milwaukee. He served his country in the US Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. He worked for 31 years for the town of Weston prior to retiring. Survivors include his three brothers, Ned (Nancy) Schwichtenberg, Daniel (Patti) Schwichtenberg, all of Milwaukee, and Robert (Gail) Schwichtenberg, Grand Marsh; his dear friend, Cay Rhinehart and her family, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Schwichtenberg. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St. Weston. Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Burns Post #388. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, 614 E. Howard Ave., Milwaukee at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church. Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
