Gerald J. Metko, 70, Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on June 16, 1942 in Mattoon, WI, the son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Johnson) Metko. He was a graduate of Mattoon High School in 1961. Jerry was employed by Miller Electric Manufacturing Company for many years until health issues caused him to retire. He also worked for Appleton Converting, Valley Packaging, and George Webb Restaurant. Jerry enjoyed playing cribbage and collecting coins. Survivors include his siblings, Alfred Jr. (Audrey) Metko, Thomas (Germaine) Metko, all of Appleton, Margaret (Walter) Mueller, Scandinavia, Daniel Metko, Fremont, Ralph (Patricia) Metko, Appleton, Nancy (Richard) Eibenholzl, Kathleen (Michael) White, all of Mattoon, Donald (Corrine) Metko, Antigo, William (Sandra) Metko, Mattoon and Erbin (Ella) Metko, Appleton as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Mark Metko and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Metko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Joseph-Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox. Fr. Charles Hoffman and Deacon Thomas Hartman will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Mattoon. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9AM until the time of service at the church.
