Marion “Beth” E. McElroy, age 95 of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Marywood Center, Wausau. She was born on October 6, 1917 in Aurora, Ill., daughter of the late Fletcher and Marion (McHaffey) Royston. On May of 1943, she married Frank A. McElroy who preceded her on Nov. 3, 1963. They moved to Wausau in 1958. Beth had retired as an RN from Aspirus Wausau Hospital and went on to be a volunteer into her 90’s. She enjoyed knitting hats and blankets for the babies born at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and knitting personal afghans and sweaters for her friends. She loved traveling and traveled often with her adult children. Survivors include her son Robert McElroy of Wausau; and daughter, Cynthia Young of­­­ Wausau. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg will officiate. Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
