Arthur Carl Wicke, age 72, Birnamwood, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at his home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born on October 31, 1940 in Birnamwood, the son of the late Carl and Elsie (Prelipp) Wicke. On July 15, 1972, Arthur was united in marriage to Linda Tullberg at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. She survives.
Arthur farmed in the Township of Birnamwood for many years. He also worked for feed mills in Birnamwood and Tigerton and was a maintenance man for the township of Birnamwood.
He enjoyed deer hunting, coon hunting, fishing, making maple syrup, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Arthur worked hard and was a friend every person deserves to have. He was the first person to offer to help someone in need.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Birnamwood, Arthur is survived by four children, Aaron Wicke, Lisa (Adam) Bernarde, Tracy Wicke and Timothy Wicke all of Birnamwood; three grandchildren, Sara Beth, Hunter and Lillian Bernarde; three siblings, Frank (Evelyn) Wicke, Wittenberg, Elsie Matz, Birnamwood, Louise (Art) Bierman, Bowler and a half-sister, Linda Claussen, Wittenberg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Dean Bertsch will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4pm until 7pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and on Friday from 10am until the time of services at the church.
