John “Jack” A. Haas, 83, Birnamwood, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home under the care of AseraCare Hospice Services.
He was born on January 14, 1929 in Chicago, the son of the late John P. and Barbara (Mushes) Haas.
On July 14, 1956, Jack was united in marriage to Diane Serbinsky at Bethany Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. She survives.
Jack worked at Hamilton Auto and Body in Chicago for a number of years and then did hydraulic repair in Melrose, IL. While in Illinois Jack also worked as a piano and furniture mover. He and Diane then moved to Athens where they owned and operated the Owl’s Club Tavern for five years until moving to Birnamwood in 1976. Jack was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, camping, working on vehicles, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Haas, Birnamwood; one son, Jay Haas, Rothschild; one daughter, Sue-Ellen Haas, Green Bay; one grandson, Nicholas Haas; two brothers; Thomas Haas, Woodridge, IL and James (Colleen) Haas, South Elgin, IL and two sisters; Dorothy Basty, Birchwood, WI and Ginger (Tom) Locascio, West Dundee, IL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Haas.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. Rev. Robert Bleeke will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and on Saturday from 10am until the time of services at the church. The family guestbook and condolences are available at schmidtschulta.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church would be appreciated. A special thank you to Pastor Bob Bleeke, Jennifer, Julia, Judy, Tony and the AseraCare Hospice for all their loving care.
