Gordon “Putt” E. Nelson, 72, Hazelhurst, died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau. Gordon was born June 22, 1940 in Wausau to the late Worth and Verionica “Ron” (Joss) Nelson. Gordon went to Wausau High School and after served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. He married Jeanette Meyers in 1966 and they had five children. On June 4, 1994 he remarried Sally Perkins. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, watching the Green Bay Packers, fishing and going to Hodag. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Sally; children Steve (Julie) Nelson, Stephanie (Dan) Wage, Paul (Amy) Nelson, Patrick (Kim) Nelson and Jay (Mindy) Nelson, all of Wausau; two step-children, Sherry (Don) Parker, Waco Texas and Shawn (Michelle) Perkins, Mosinee; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Marlene (Mike) Nowak, Mich., Margaret (Gene) Fochs, Mosinee and Rosemary Felch, Rothschild; two brothers, Denny (Norma) Nelson, Wausau and Harry Trierweiler Jr., Wausau; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Veronica Trierweiler and Worth Nelson; his step-father, Harry Trierweiler; two sisters, Katherine Roeske and Shirley Shedler; two brothers, Billy Trierweiler and Douglas Nelson; and a grandson, Tyler Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Rev. Rich Block will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and again on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to the time of services also at the funeral home. The American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post 10, Wausau, will give Veteran Honors at the cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, especially Dr. Rezazadeh for all the help he gave us and the staff at Aspirus Hospice House for all their loving care in the last few weeks. A special thanks also to “Putt’s” family and friends for their support during these difficult times.
